On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, the Auditorium of UPI Tasikmalaya Campus welcomed a gathering of students and design professionals for a seminar titled Enhancing Creativity in Product Design. Running from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM, this event aimed to inspire attendees with insights into the latest trends and techniques in product design.
Keynote Speakers and Engaging Topics
The event opened with Prof. Dr. M. Hariri Abdullah, an expert in product design styling, who spoke on the importance of styling elements in creating distinctive product identities. This session explored how strategic design choices can shape a strong brand identity and influence consumer perception.
In addition to Prof. Hariri, the seminar featured three other speakers. R. Moch. Rizal Hafiyan, S.Pd., M.Ds., presented on the potential of natural materials as unique and eco-friendly resources. This session provided fresh insights into the visual appeal and authenticity that natural materials can bring to products.
Andri Pahrulroji, S.Pd., M.Ds., then discussed Digital Twin in Product Design, a technology that allows designers to create digital replicas of products for testing and simulation. This approach helps speed up the design process and reduce production costs.
Ghia Tri Jayanti, S.Ds., M.Ds., concluded with a session on recycled materials in product design as a sustainable solution. This topic highlighted the importance of environmentally friendly design in reducing industrial waste, aligning with the global trend towards sustainability.
Participant Engagement and Seminar Impact
The seminar was met with enthusiasm from a diverse audience, including students, faculty, and design practitioners. Interactive discussions enriched participants’ understanding of how to apply these insights in their own design projects.
